Old Will

You may be  familiar with the term 'Last Will and Testament'. This means that when a Will is written the new Will supercedes all previous Wills

People assume that there is an automatic mechanism, as a legal requirement, for making sure that the most recent Will someone wrote is used to deal with their estate after their death: there isn't.

You may be fortunate and have an executor with excellent organisational skills and memory or, indeed,  a conscientious solicitor who knows the family, wrote the Will, kept it safely in storage and is now dealing with estate administration.

There again, you may not have wanted to share all this information with their solicitor or executors. This could be for many reasons like, for example, favoured children or grandchildren, previous partners etc.
